Synchrony Bank (Formerly Metlife Bank and GE Capital Retail Bank) is a US federally chartered bank.
Synchrony Bank entered US retail banking through the renaming of GE Capital Retail Bank and acquisition of the deposit business from MetLife Bank. Historically it is from Grand Bank, which it renamed it had renamed to Metlife Bank in 2001. It is now part of Synchrony Financial, a nationwide online bank that offers consumers deposit products that they can earn interest on including certificates of deposit (CD rates), Money Market Accounts, High Yield Savings Accounts and IRA accounts. These products are FDIC insured.
